Update 1
Zoey at 26 weeks |
My name is Ella Fleming-Christie and my little 32 week bump will be called Zoey Esmée. She will be of South African, NZ Maori, NZ European descent and I know she will be the most beautiful girl that I will have ever seen. I found out that I was pregnant when I was 17 years and 9 months, and at that time I was around 6 weeks pregnant already. To some at that age it may have been a massive shock due to having no job and being so young, but I can honestly say that I was pretty happy when I found out because my partner is so supportive and loving and I know he's the one I want to be with for the rest of my life. Funny enough he was the one who first had the feeling I was definitely pregnant but said I should take a test just to be sure. But everything has been so much more defined since we found out; I am more sure of what I want to do and how my life will hopefully turn out. At least now I have more of a direction because we'll have a daughter to focus more of our time around. I've even planned out that I want to start her in karate and horse riding around the age of two or three if she's active enough but I have no doubts, I was pretty on to everything by the age of two.
Knowing Zoey is on her way very soon I couldn't be more excited, let alone impatient! Being a young mum is probably not much different from being an older mum apart from the fact that you will have way more energy to keep up with them during their toddler years! It's weird though because sometimes I feel like I'm older in the way that I already know most of how to look after, bring up and discipline a kid - probably mostly due to the fact that my own mum has been working in Early Childcare Education since she was sixteen and I've grown up watching her look after other children and I've helped her especially with my own brother and sister, plus the kids that she nannied throughout my childhood.
I went to my first antenatal class today after so many weeks of putting it off. Thanks to my midwife, Kathy Fray and my mum telling me how beneficial it is, I thought I might just go anyway and see for myself what it's really like. Turns out it wasn't so bad! It was a young mum's group so there were girls there around my age, seventeen to twenty which was great because I had them there to relate to and discuss different experiences between us all. We did a small activity to start off with and then we had some lunch which lead to us talking more and more which meant we were slowly all getting more confident to one another. I found myself contributing to most of the conversations which was strange because usually in new situations and speaking up for myself, I usually don't do because I'm quite shy at times. But due to having such a comfortable atmosphere I was able to be myself and have a laugh with the girls and enjoy my day there!
I hope you all have enjoyed my first young mum pregnancy update! Keep an eye out for more posts from me!
Have a great day guys,
Ella Fleming-Christie
